The trends that inspire the collections of the exhibitors at Prato Expo presented during the 7th edition of Milano Unica, speak of a season in which basic has been replaced by creativity and imagination, and nature becomes fantastic through technology. Eccentric is the watchword for fall/winter 09-10, for a new, surprising fashion with a strong design component.
The revival of the androgynous look as an archetype moves womenswear toward a more formal look and menswear in search of new interpretations. Silhouettes with extreme contours suggest a flight from normalcy. The shadings of color are dominated by the elements of nature, that defines a palette of important neutrals.
The fabrics come to life with fancy yarns, devorè treatments, voluminous textures, structured weaves and spongy handles. Sunny tints, amplified masculine tweeds, repetitive geometric patterns, pleats, creases, vintage decorations, lace, bows, light embroideries, silky sheens, patterns from European folklore, all say no to banality. Five moods describe the season: Nocturnal, Neo Simplicity, Electrocolor, Real Life, Warm Memories.
Real Life: thick yarns for structured weaves and new matelassè effects. Smooth padding and protective gathers. Precious woolen cloth, thick and doubled. Circular shapes. Oversize masculine patterns for fancy womenswear fabrics, grisaille and neutral tweeds. Faded knitwear and jersey. Denim in the classical washed versions. The chromatic scale ranges from grey and beige to lead and the darkest browns..
Warm Memories: hairy woolens that imitate fur. Thick doubleface cloth and wool created to support the geometrical design of the new silhouettes. Glossy or silky effects. Satin. New shapes and applications borrowed from high fashion. The comfort of knitwear and stretch fabric. Decorative or informal. From dusty rose to bronze and orange, from brown to cyclamen red and blood
Nocturna: luxurious softness and new sartoriality that moves the waistline upward. Fabrics with textured surfaces. The colors of metal and precious stones inspire iridescent coated fabrics, tiny relief effects and stones set in the fabric. The fertile abundance of nature in the future as a starting point for surprising fabrics. Spatial denims and lightweight technical fabrics define a new concept of luxury sportswear. Unusual greens, violets, bordeaux, blacks.
Neo simplicity: noble fibers embellish the new suits that choose the weight of thick cloth. The patterns prefer figured and geometrical designs. The inspiration comes from a vintage womenswear style: lace, wool netting, satin for lingerie effects. Return of the constructed corset-bodice. Pearls, polkadots, feathers and ethereal furs. Golden beige and rosy grey, light and precious. Evanescent orange and blue.
Electrocolor: Technical textiles with a disco inspiration. Return of the bomber jacket with innovative fabrics and unexpected colors. Color and sport. Surprising details: gathers, ribbons and inserts of unusual materials. Active sports suggest mixing garments to overturn the rules of propriety. Fashion plays with graphics and colors reminiscent of Pop Art. Colorful urban style and sportswear glamour. Vibrant colors in shades of brown and cherry. Pink. Yellow and green with predominance of yellow.
